 | Age: | Newborn | |
 | Gender: | Male | |
 | Region-Organ: | GI-Small intestine | |
 | Most likely etiology: | congenital | |
 | History: | Male newborn, since birth increased (mainly bilious) vomiting, oral nutrition not possible. Abdomen was soft. | |
 | Pathomorphology or Pathophysiology of this disease : | Rotation of the small intestines around the small mesenterial root, mostly in malrotation (also in this case). | |
 | Radiological findings: |
<- view Ultrasound 1
Ultrasound 1: There is a bulls-eye structure in the epigastrium (B-image)
<- view Ultrasound 2
Ultrasound 2: After turning on the colored doppler, there is a spiral-shaped vessel within the bulls-eye structure, which is rotated around the superior mesenteric artery. It is the mesenteric vein ("whirlpool sign").
(The superior mesenteric artery is therefore not able to be found on the right side of the superior mesenteric artery, but rather through the rotation of the mesenterial root, it lies on the left side)
